Music 2014

The Free State Festival features full band stage performances that accompany film screenings, large scale outdoor concerts and single instrument experimental performances in intimate venues.

Highlights from past festivals a post screening outdoor concert by Johnny Winter, a post screening onstage performance by Hüsker Dü’s Grant Hart, an in gallery performance by NYC based bassist/ composer James Ilgenfritz, live jazz and gospel music at St. Luke’s AME Church in the heart of the Lawrence Cultural District and performances by bands such as the punk band Radkey, garage rock trio The Cave Girls and acclaimed guitarist Samantha Fish.

The Lawrence Arts Center welcomes education opportunities, such as the 2014 one day workshop with Johnny Winter Band guitarist Paul Nelson.
